1. Using your favorite search engine, locate some information about a company that you are interested in. Identify at least two major strategic capital decisions that have been made by this company since its inception. What financial and nonfinancial issues do you think the company’s management considered when making these decisions?

2. There are three parts to this unit’s discussion. First, briefly discuss whether you—as an employer/HR manager—would rather work in a unionized or non-unionized workplace. Explain your rationale and offer what you believe to be the most valuable benefit.

Finally, if you chose two different sides to the two scenarios (e.g. HR manager prefers non-unionized, employee prefers unionized), do you believe this creates a conflict in being able to perform your HR job in good faith? Explain. If you chose the same side for both scenarios, do you believe this could lead to bias or issues if you are not working in the environment you prefer?

3. Discuss how the concepts and activities you explored in this course can benefit you in your future academic or professional pursuits. Give a specific example of a component in this course that you found most helpful in bettering your understanding of employment law.
