OVERVIEW:
This paper will be to work thru and create various components of a Business Continuity Plan for the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant which had a disaster affecting its operations on March 11, 2011.
As the Business Continuity Manager, you will “present” this Business Continuity Plan to the Board of Directors. You should think of this presentation as you would if you were briefing your Board of Directors at the company you presently work for.
You will complete each form, describe its purpose and what the results are with your recommendation for future action, if any. All forms will be inserted within the body of the Word document. You will write the paper in a manner representing a briefing, insert the appropriate form and continue with your narrative.
Ensure you have a descriptive opening and an action oriented conclusion/closing to your paper/presentation.
At a minimum, you will select one department which YOU determine to be critical to the facility. You will select one business function within that department and one business process for that function. Feel free to select more than one department, function and process, but it not required.
DETAILS:
Provide an overview of the incident and explain the importance of the department, function and process you have selected as critical for this assignment and why you selected it.
Utilizing the forms (all forms can be edited to reflect your information) which will provide to the attachment, complete the following:
Complete the Business Impact Analysis Questionnaire (Form 2-2) and identify the RTO for this selected function.
Complete the Department Function Identification Form (Form 2-1), the Critical Process Impact Matrix (Form 3-3) and the Critical Process Breakdown Form (Form 3-4).
Complete Layer 1-5 Risk Assessment Forms (Forms 3-1, 2, 5, 6 & 7) utilizing a 5 year horizon. Refer for scoring methodology. When completing Layer 4, identify 3 vital records associated with the department. Utilizing your highest risk, as determined by your scoring, you will write a condensed Department Plan to the point of which you believe minimal restoration of the process and function has been established.
At a minimum, you will write the plan to reflect items 1-4 of a Department Plan (WW page 109). If you have selected to add additional departments, you will generate Department Plans for them using the same steps as described above.
You should view this paper as a presentation, as business continuity manager to corporate leadership, detailing the importance of the select business department, process and function; describing in detail the BCP forms which support the importance of the select document.
Please use APA format paper with the required forms inserted into body of the paper. Use the abstract as a description of the 2011 disaster, your opening narrative to leadership and what your paper will cover.
