Paper details
• must fit on 8 1/2″ x 11″ pages with 1″ margins all around
• font should be 12-point Arial or Times Roman. (This syllabus is prepared using one inch margins on all
sides using 12 point Times New Roman font.)
• text within paragraphs must be singled spaced with double-spacing between paragraphs.
• text beyond the maximum page length will not be read
• unlimited appendices may be used and are expected as supporting material. They must be: (1)
referenced in the text, and (2) kept in order of their reference.
• all references must be according to the guidelines in EFFECTIVE WRITING: A Handbook for
Accountants, by May & May. All papers must be prepared in accordance with this style manual.
Documentation styles for footnotes and bibliography are in the Appendices 8-B through 8-E of May and
May. Be careful that the point you make in the text by using an appendix is clear and that, in combination,
the appendices are logically consistent
