For this assignment, create an explanatory video for how vaccination works. You can talk about vaccines in general or pick one vaccine in particular, but be
clear and consistent about which you select. This video should:
demonstrate your knowledge of how vaccination works to prevent disease.
explain the contents and function of a vaccine
discuss how the vaccination interacts with the immune system to generate an immune response (include innate and adaptive as well as humoral and cellmediated)
explain, at a cellular level, why vaccination prevents future infections
address one common misconception about vaccination (we’ve all been hearing them recently, but if you need ideas, let me know) and why it is unfounded
include audio narration and images and/or diagrams
be presented clearly and succinctly (less than 5 min)
show your face and name within it (does not need to be the whole time) and personality!
Some of you are incredibly creative and/or artistic – feel free to show your “flair” here! I’ve presented many many many videos for you and you’ve seen a
variety of different styles and formats from powerpoints, to live demonstrations, to paper and pen. Also, there are some biology animations and music videos
that I’ve shown (not my skill set), but if that is you – go for it! If you feel that you are not creative, don’t worry (I’m not either!)- focus on clear communication as
that will go a long way to showing your mastery!
