You are an educator tasked with applying Understanding by Design (UbD) principles in the creation of quality outcomes, directions and associated assessment tasks for a selected year level in your key learning area. Units of work are expected to: identify relevant Australian Curriculum outcomes in order to set achievable learning goals, required resources, understandings, knowledge/concepts and skills; provide directions for authentic and engaging learning and properly moderated assessment and reporting to parents (and others) opportunities that promote elements of intellectual quality, quality learning environment and significance. You need to ensure that your explicitly stated learning goals are aligned to explicit quality criteria for students of varying abilities and characteristics, in accordance with UbD principles. a) Utilises relevant national curricula to design learning area specific quality outcomes and directions for authentic learning experiences (in a context of varying abilities and backgrounds) that may facilitate deep knowledge, deep understanding, higher-order thinking and connectedness (18%)
b) Utilises relevant national curricula to design quality assessment for and of student learning (in a context of varying abilities and backgrounds) that may facilitate explicit quality criteria, high expectations, student direction, background knowledge and connectedness. It is expected that you will show how assessment data/results can be effectively moderated. (18%)
c) Utilises relevant national curricula to sketch a learning area specific overview for directions in designing learning experiences to achieve stage 1 and 2 of unit plan (7%)
d) Demonstrated innovation; personal literacy skills written and visual; and referencing (7%)
