Question 1 :
Provide a clear and critical discussion in your answers to the following questions. You are allowed to use any available source but citing your sources appropriately.The purpose of the task is for you to investigate and research online and offline sources format accurate and coherent responses. The notional hours for the completion of this task in terms of the research required are 25 hours and around 16 hours are required for formalising your report. This is an individual task; therefore, all students are expected to individually work on its completion.
IP addressing in a network can be done in static and dynamic fashion. What is the benefit of dynamic addressing? Discuss the working procedure for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) (600 words).

Question 2 :
Suppose you are given a task of designing networks for a company with three office section with 20, 60 and 40 computers respectively. You need design three separate networks for them. You also need to keep a provision of incorporating 25% more machines in the networks in near future. Discuss your choice of IP addressing scheme for them using both class-full addressing and Classless Inter Domain Routing (CIDR) method. Justify your design choices for address range, subnet mask, network prefix, host part and broadcast addresses. Discuss the procedure for integrating these three sections to one network using supernetting scheme. [50 marks]
