This is a big week for the Federal Government, with the change in Executive Branch leadership and complete change from one administration to another. Ignore the political and policy aspects, and focus on the leadership and management aspects of putting together a new organization and getting it moving, in the face of the huge federal bureaucracy use to doing things their way. A survey of federal employees in December suggested that 62% had voted for Hillary Clinton, and 28% said they were considering retirement, early retirement or otherwise leaving government service. The incoming administration has indicated that it is interested in cutting federal spending (and employment) by 10-20%. Given this situation, what are some of the things the new President needs to do to deal with these issues?
