Select a topic that relates to the intersection of computers and medical imaging, research that topic using online or library-based resources, and write a term paper summarizing your findings. The paper should include background information, explaining why the topic is important and relevant to modern diagnostic imaging. The paper should also describe the current status of the topic in modern imaging, and how it will be an important part of medical imaging over the next 5-10 years. You may select one of the suggested topics below, or else choose your own. Almost any paper published in the Journal of Digital Imaging or under the “Informatics in Radiology” heading in the journal Radiographics would be a suitable topic. Some articles that appear in the ASRT journal Radiologic Technology may be good references, as long as the topic relates to computers in imaging.

There should be a list of references (at least 4) at the end, with in-text citations at the relevant parts of the main body, using APA format. You may break the paper up into subsections for improved readability if you wish. The length of the paper should be 1100-1500 words, and it will be checked automatically for plagiarism using SafeAssign when it is submitted through Blackboard.

Grading is subjective and will be based on your paper’s organization, clarity, use of proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc, use of high quality reference sources, and your ability to communicate your clear understanding of the topic and why it is important in modern medical imaging.
