1. Background: Describe the life cycle of the virus, disease caused and any unique features: latency, immune suppression etc. Discuss the mechanism behind any of these features.

2. Write one paragraph on what led the authors to come up with this hypothesis. Outline the hypothesis and describe the rationale the authors used to come up with it. (What is the logic behind the hypothesis that makes it valid? What evidence existed prior to the publication of this paper that allowed them to come up with this hypothesis?) Predict the outcome they would see if their hypothesis were true.

3. Judge the evidence (data) and decide if it supports the hypothesis. Point out flaws or weaknesses in the evidence if any. This section should NOT discuss specific pieces of data. You may, however, refer to a particular experiment if you think it deserves singling out, either because it supports or weakens their conclusion. E.g., “the model the authors come up with at the end of the article leaves some questions unanswered.” OR, “the paper would benefit from some in vivo data, (or animal studies.)”

4. How does this discovery fit within the field of research? How does this advance our knowledge of the field?

5. What future questions naturally arise from this study? Think carefully about this section and write at least three sentences on this
