For the assignment, create an integrated, thematic unit covering all curriculum areas for preschoolers VPK:
• Language art/literature
• Math
• Science
• Social Studies
• Art
• Music/movement
• Dramatic play
• Health/safety
• Physical development
• Field trips
The unit can cover one week to several weeks. Technology should be present within the unit for at least one activity. Differentiation and accommodations must be unique and appropriate (for example, gifted children will not always be accommodated through peer tutoring). Consider your exceptionality chart.
Appropriate assessments and assessment tools must be utilized to check for understanding. Homework extension activities should be creative and family-friendly.
After you have completed the Thematic Unit, create a presentation to explain it. You may use any presentation software you like, including PowerPoint. The presentation must include the following:
1. A planning web with 10 activities included.
2. A calendar of activities (10 areas are included with the title of the activity on the calendar.
3. 10 PowerPoints All 10 areas are included with the title of the activity.
4. Ten developmentally appropriate learning activities with accommodations and assessments, one for each curriculum area using the provided lesson plan template
5. Summary and reflection—What is the value of thematic units and integrated curriculum? (Don’t forget to include connections to and citations of course-related materials.)
