Description

Individual Survey Report of Maximum 2,500 words
Part Two of your Coursework will be an Individual Survey Report.

Each student will investigate the numerous new forms of finance available to entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs with a critical exposure of their applicability and suitability to various enterprises.

Assessment Marking criteria

Originality and creativity are encouraged throughout this module. However, as an academic piece of work appropriate writing, language, style and professionalism is demanded. See below.

Writing Tips

? Casual language where scholarly engagement is required will be penalised in written
work.
? Resist the temptation to use abbreviations such as etc. in academic writing. Use ‘and
so on’ instead.
? Do not start a sentence with And or But. That infuriates me!
? Do not use symbols such as @ instead of the word ‘at’ or & instead of ‘and’
? If using numerals in university writing keep consistency
? When calculating currency use sterling please? Again, be consistent.
? Images are welcomed in the survey report to break up text and give context.

FURTHER GUIDANCE

This report should act as a survey of what is currently trending in the financial sector. This is a newly evolving field of research in its own right so you are encouraged to survey at least the six

areas covered in the module but perhaps some that were not but you have developed an interest in.
You can choose just one area or several if you wish. Fewer areas allow you to investigate deeper and will usually result in higher quality work than a shallow overview of the whole financial sector.
In order for your reports [which should be structured accordingly ie Executive Summary, Contents page, Introduction, Results, Conclusions, Bibliography, Appendices] to be considered
of high quality and receive high marks you need to look at an area from a critical perspective.
For example you all ran live crowdfunding campaigns but no group actually reached their target. What does that tell you about the crowd funding sectors somewhat inflated expectations of users?

The cryptocurrency sector is plagued by the bad image Bitcoin and the Silk Road so the 150 other currencies have reacted by merging and combining teams, technologies and codes. Block

chain is being incorporated into mainstream Banks now too. The USA Federal Reserve is
selecting which altcoins it supports and which it doesn’t. What impact has that had? Why do academics and researchers struggle with this form of payment conceptually?

Payment technologies are becoming mainstream but they rely heavily on the use of smart phones which consequently rules out many of the wealthiest generation – baby boomers. What

impact do you think that will have on its effectiveness now and in the future?

Grants, Loans and other financial support for small businesses at least in the UK has been withdrawn in the Government’s Autumn Statement. What other sources would an entrepreneur

need to familiarise themselves with as a consequence? This doesn’t have to be UK specific if you can find accurate and current data on similar schemes in your home country.

These are just a few ways you can tailor this survey but it is just that, a survey of what’s current.
