the implications of disagreement over “the problem” between an analyst and policymaker? What are the potential causes of disagreement?.
2. In a general sense, what are evaluative criteria, and what is their value to policymakers attempting to choose the best policy options? What are the four
most commonly utilized criteria for evaluating policy proposals? List and define each of these criteria and discuss their broader implications for
contemporary public administration in practice.
3.As a policy analyst hired by the recently formed multi-partner task force within NJ State Department of Education (NJDEA), and considering what you know
about current educational provisions during the COVID-19 pandemic, discuss what kinds of operational measures you deem would be the most appropriate
to analyze public school performance.List and briefly justify three (3) questions you would ask to begin this process. With whom would you consult? From
where might you get useful, reliable information? From the vantage point of an analyst, in what specific ways might politics impact your work?
4.Provide an overview of policy analysis as you understand it thus far. Define policy analysis, describe the role of and potential conflicts for policy analysts,
and discuss the uses of policy analysis for contemporary public policy and administration. Include a discussion of the conclusion that policy analysis is
sometimes described as “part science, part judgment”.
5The complexity of public policy problems requires us to simplify complicated processes to both understand and improve policymaking. Explain the models
shown here. After discussing the utility of each model separately, comprehensively “talk across” the models, demonstrating how they inform one another and
the policy process. You may frame your response in general terms; however, a concrete policy example might helpful to illustrate your points.
