Required components of the final project presentation:
Provide a brief literature review discussing importance of your public health question (maximum 3 slides) (10 points)
For each of your two data sources, describe (20 points total) :
o How was the data created? And how many people are included in the original data? (2 pts per data source)
o What was your exposure and outcome and how was this defined in your data? (3 pts per data source)
o What confounding variables did you consider? Why did you consider them confounding variables and how were these defined in your data? (2 pts per data
source)
o For all variables, describe the severity of missingness in your data. How did you chose to handle this missingness for your analysis? (3 pts per data source)
Answer your public health question using the data analysis techniques discussed in class
(40 pts Total)
o Describe which analytic methods you used (undergrads 10 pts; graduate students: 5 points)
o Provide two sets of results: 1 set of results utilizing each data source separately (10 pts per set of results)
o Graduate Students: Present results with and without taking confounding variables into account. (graduate students 5 points)
Discuss how the answers varied between the two sets of results (10 pts)
Describe how each component may or may not have contributed to the results from the two analyses (30 total)
o Data collection methods (Questionnaires used, possibility for misclassification) (10 pts)
o Source population (Generalizability and selection bias) (10 pts)
o Quality of data (missingness) (10 pts)
