Project Background Research Summary

One of the most important tasks in any design project is to effectively communicate
necessary technical background information about design issues or challenge so that people outside of
the design team can understand the efforts the team is undertaking. Presenting relevant technical
background information clearly and concisely requires engineers to identify relevant and credible
sources of published information, and to the summarize and synthesize that information for the
intended reader in a meaningful way that support the story you are trying to tell.
write a brief 1-2 page paper that presents the technical background
information needed to explain a specific technical challenge or design issue associated with your
integrated design project to an engineer or manager who will be reviewing your work.
This paper should contain information obtained from a minimum of three (3) published sources that can
be used to help you make your point about you chosen topic. For each reference you identify and
include in your paper you should address where the reference came from, why it is credible, and what it
specifically has to say about your chosen topic. This paper should be written in accordance with the Document formatting Guidelines(pdf file attached).
Please refer to the project problem statement pdf file to know the technical problem that needs solving. Refer to the Project Background Summary paper
Exercise (pdf file attached) for more information and follow the rubric there. My team chosen topic is solar energy water desalination device/system so
please do research on that. you can also use google patents for design concepts as well as the reference given on the project problem statement(pdf file) as
published sources. A sample project summary paper file is attached but take note it is a different technical problem but you should follow that format. There
is also the project design specification(PDS team 2 file) so it should be in accordance with the stakeholder’s, need, and attributes requirement. If you cannot
find the exact project design specification requirement on the research, just ignore it- but it will still have to be solar energy powered water desalination
device with a potential client of your choosing. It also doesn’t have to be from seawater or salt water to desalinate into freshwater. Water impurities will also
be fine
