Format for PRACSIS

The PRACSIS grid has three main areas of focus: Scenario, Impact and Strategies.

· Under “Practitioner Session,” fill in a brief description of the Situation you are considering, including task group members or others involved in situation; lay out point by point some of your Actions in the situation that you want to consider; and fill out a list of Practitioner Characteristics by specified categories, including race, gender, age, class/socio-economic status, physical abilities, mental abilities, sexual orientation, religion, and ethnicity. You may add categories as appropriate; style of dress, language, student status and professionalism are common additions.
· Under “Impact,” reflect on Situation, Actions, and Characteristics and, for each category or sub-unit, write down (a) how you feel and perceive it; (b) how you believe it is or was perceived by the others and how they may have felt or thought about session, and on the basis of what evidence or cues; and (c) what the consequences were for the interaction, including a qualitative assessment of where it fell or the continuum from positive to negative effect.
· Finally respond by category to the “Implication for Strategy and Practice”—how to maximize your effectiveness given your assessment of and reflection on: the situation, your actions within it, and your personal characteristics; perceptions of these by yourself and others; and their consequences or effect. Integrate this section with your readings power points and class work.
