In a three page essay, write your response to the question by referring to and expounding on the readings and outside materials. At least two outside sources
(in addition to the textbooks) are required. The outside sources should be from academic peer-reviewed journals and books. In answering the question you
select, be sure to state and argue for your position. Do not simply cover some of the answers other people have given; you must argue for your own position.
Your paper should consist of four parts:
The question you intend to answer
A statement of and argument for the position you adopt
Consideration of what you take to be the best objection of your position
A response to that objection
Please use plain words, this is a freshman assignment.
An excellent (A-range) paper will thoroughly address the key aspects of the question and make thoughtful references to other research in support of the
position. It will also be devoid of spelling and grammatical errors, and be written in a clear, concise, structured manner.
