Virtual Lab No2
Week 12
Purpose:
The main purpose of the Virtual Lab No2 is to get familiar with the Balanced Scorecard
performance management & measurement system.
Aim:
To critically review an implemented Balanced Scorecard performance management and
measurement system of one public or private sector organizations in the MENA region, and to
identify its shortcomings and suggest ways for further improvement.
Objective:
The main objective of this Virtual lab is to support you, learners in developing your consultant
skills based to a real-case Balanced Scorecard Performance Management & Measurement system
regarding project planning, data collection, analytical thinking, creativity, and developing
evaluation and synthesis as well as communication and presentation skills.
Instructions & Guidelines:
Assume that your Performance Management course team is an independent team of consultants
and your expertise is concerned with performance management and measurement systems
within the MENA-based organizations.
You were invited by an UAE-based organization to critically review its (Balanced Scorecard)
performance management and measurement system, identify its shortcomings and
advice/suggest ways for further improvement.
Senior management of the organization is expecting that your team will submit and present to
them a written consulting project document, where you will clearly justify and explain why and
how to improve the existing performance management and measurement system.
You were asked to present the result of your project within the next 4 weeks.
1. Reflect on the materials and discussions during the first 11 weeks of the Performance
Management course and collect data on the topic.
2. The existing teams will remain unchanged.
3. A Team Forum will be created, which should be used for the entire communication within
your team for any & all Virtual Lab activities.
4. Write a written document which will be used by the management to start preparations
to improve the existing PM&MS (and grade your outcome).
5. Submission deadline for uploading the written document (word file) is Tuesday, April 19,
2022, at 9 pm.
Structure of your Virtual Lab supporting document:
• 1. Document: Cover page (logo of the university, title and code of the course, title of your
report, team names & learner IDs, date of submission & word limit – 1500 words);
• Introduction (around 100 words);
• Critical assessment & evidence of the current performance management and
measurement system in public or private sector organizations from a MENA based
organization (around 600 words);
• A clearly presented and structured advice & suggestions for improvement of the existing
performance management and measurement system (around 700 words);
• Conclusion (around 100 words);
• References
Evaluation criteria:
 The quality of the report content based on the evidence and advice/suggestions on the
topic of the Virtual Lab No2.
 Interaction among the team members and communication on the Team Forum.
Please get familiar with the assessment rubrics for Virtual Lab 2.
Remember:
To have your draft proofread for any typos/grammatical errors, to use Font 12, Times New
Roman 1.5 line space, and fully justified text.
Watch for Turnitin similarity rate of your submission (it has to be below 10%).
Do not exceed the suggested word limit (1500 words) and do not send email to ask for
exceeding the word limit or deadline.
