The purpose of the research paper assignment is to identify a topic/issue in which
you have an interest. The paper must be at least 5 double-spaced pages (not including cover page and list of references) covering a topic of your choice.
Your topic MUST be related to organized crime and one of the topics covered in this course. The paper must be in APA (American Psychological Association)
format, 7th edition. You must include a minimum of five (5) scholarly references obtained from scholarly journals located in the UNT library. The paper will be
graded on content, organization, and English usage (including reference citations). Paper should be prepared using a word processing program, be doublespaced in 12-point Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins (top, bottom, left, and right; you will need to change this setting in Word by going to
the File menu then to Page setup). Papers should also include in-text citations and a list of
reference pages in APA citation style. Review the APA Citation module in Canvas, which includes helpful links and a tip sheet.
You are responsible for creating a PowerPoint presentation. You are to take your paper and create a PowerPoint presentation that you could use to
teach/present your topic. You will be expected to know the material, as you will be the subject-matter expert, and be able to offer an abstract of your paper
through your PowerPoint. The PowerPoint must contain at least 20 slides (not counting the introduction and closing slides) and not exceed 40 slides. Make
sure to add in notes, as if you were teaching from your PowerPoint. You can either add these at the bottom of each slide (in the notes section) or add in
supplementary notes—it is your decision and choice. It is also your choice whether to include clipart, commentary, videos, photo, graphics, etc., but make
sure the focus of your PowerPoint presentation is content.
