Initiate the mentoring of a professional colleague or new member of staff against a
negotiated ‘need; over a period of three sessions. Record the process and evaluate the
effectiveness of the model (s) adopted and strategies employed. 900 words (+/-10%)

If you are not currently in a setting where this is feasible then the mentoring can be of
somebody not in education. Central to this assignment is your reflection of the
mentoring you experience and your targets moving forward.
This first assignment should define the nature of your mentoring approach based on
academic theory, and outline the methodologies you wish to adopt within this mentoring
case study.
Consider the following key questions to assist with this assignment:
 Which models did you consider for this journey? Reasons for the use of model
and reasons for not considering other models?
 How will/has this model supported the mentoring journey?
 What evidence from your mentoring journey so far links to the
strengths/weaknesses of this mentoring model?
