The Initial IMO GHG Strategy has been developed and implemented to reduce the GHG emissions from the
Maritime Sector. This assignment is a written report on this strategy. You are to provide an overview of the
measures implemented and to be implemented by the strategy, and to make an informed assessment on the
confidence of the strategy in meeting it targets.
Complete the following tasks:
1. Provide an overview of the IMO’s work towards the reduction of air pollutants including the measures
implemented. Include work previous to the Initial Strategy, leading up to its development and
implementation.
2. Give an account of the current emissions levels of the industry and any realized reductions to date.
3. State and explain the measures being proposed by the Initial GHG Strategy.
4. Provide an informed outlook on your confidence in the Strategy meeting its targets and if the Caribbean
Region has the capacity to assist the sector in meeting these targets.
