Students should in their introduction explain what management theories are in relation to information technology. (2) Students should research in the library
a journal article (Case Study) on an organization with a global IT project of interest. (2) Students should consider how the project’s global scope was
influenced? (3) Students should then analyze through research (the case study) how the organization’s charter or a knowledge area may have led to the
project’s success or failure. (4) Finally, in your conclusion, students must describe a furthering suggestion (thought) about how one of the 10 knowledge
areas is being influenced in the case study on a global consideration. Students in the past have researched organizations such as AT&T, SAP smart projects,
Elliott global, Westinghouse, and McDonald’s.
Example:
Problem: Today, organizations are faced with international laws and regulations that exceed normal United States standards for compliance. McDonald’s has
a growth mindset and global footprint. In order to expand, McDonald’s must remain vigilant in understanding cultural norms, regulations, and environmental
considerations globally.
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine how McDonald’s management philosophy aids the organization in global expansion. To help the
organization grow, McDonald’s focuses its global scope planning on regulatory conformity and cultural agreement. McDonald’s green incentives are part of
its planning to build new restaurants and meet governmental regulatory measures. The scope increases in the IT planning are cost-saving adventures and
green initiatives for reducing sunk costs in investment too. Therefore, McDonald’s uses its own knowledge management from project closings to help its
project managers design and implement plans for new locations. As an example, this paper will highlight McDonald’s restaurant build in Costa Rica, which
won environmental awards and green citations.
