Leadership Action Plan
In the course project, you will apply your knowledge and insights concerning
leadership as they pertain to the conduct of public administration. You will
analyze the impact of leadership on a familiar program, initiative, project, or other
related area of a public organization. You will also apply seminal and emerging
leadership theories and models to develop strategies for a leadership action plan.
The course project comprises several interconnected assignments. In the first
assignment, you will identify the focus of your leadership analysis. Choose a
familiar public initiative, program, or project from your current or past
professional or personal experience. Once you have chosen your focus, you will
describe the background of the program and the related leadership problem, issue,
or concern.
In the second assignment, you will apply a leadership framework to the current
leadership approach. You will also identify an alternative leadership approach and
related theory to enhance leadership effectiveness.
In the final piece of the course project, you will apply your leadership model and
develop a realistic, meaningful leadership action plan. Details of the plan will be
driven by the leadership model associated with your chosen theory or theories.
After you have completed your Leadership Action Plan, you will create and record
a presentation summarizing the plan.
Note: Your Leadership: Theory and Practice text provides you with many
leadership approaches, theories, and related models from which to choose.
