Final Project Guideline (To be continued)
TOPIC: The investment and management of Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Student Investment Fund worth $100,000 (Customize topic). You can call it “CMU Student Investment Portfolio”
As a financial analyst the Board of Trustees and the CMU executive have tasked you (a current or future finance analyst) to prepare a diversified investment plan on the capital market. You should analyze the markets, investigate specific investment opportunities, assessing risks and returns, and make investment recommendations to the student investment fund of CMU who makes these decisions to grow the fund. You implement part of the materials you learned in the course to create an investment portfolio commensurable with the client’s expectation. The CMU Student Investment fund (see attachment) is your client with the given a basic profile that includes the investment expectations, preferences, time horizon, risk tolerance, and etc. Consider other investment constraints as outlined in the attachment (such as returns, associated risks, tax implications, investment preferences, etc.).
Your immediate task would be your group to meet with any investment student fund member or professor/advisor for the club (Dr. Lee or myself) to gather any missing pieces for your project.
You’ll be judged on the masterly of the following;
1. Accurate assessment of the client profile (investor policy statement)
2. Asset allocation, classification, and diversification (return and risk)
3. Fundamental and technical analysis
4. Short-term, medium, and long-term portfolio investment strategies
5. Portfolio optimization
a. Returns
b. Risk
6. Your work should be supported quantitatively and qualitatively (use of models is advisable)
