Write an argumentative paper of not more than 2,000 words (8 pages) utilizing the Waghelstein and Chisholm reading as your guide. Your submission should address the background and analysis of the insurgency in order to provide potential recommendations regardless of the historical outcome. Research and analyze an insurgency from the list below.

• Given the framework of the provided Waghelstein/Chisholm insurgency analysis, in its 20-year Afghanistan foray, the United States failed to learn one/two/three/four (you choose any number up to four) key lessons from the Soviet failure in facing the Mujahideen from 1979-1989. Specifically, these lapses were (and then list up to four in summary wording)
• Then write the rest of the paper going from there, and taking into account what the assignment asks of you. (BTW, you choose the number of failures, but past students have found 4 to be a tidy number because you then only have to write about 2 pages/500 words on each—again, making it easier for you.)
