
As explained in your textbook, Vealey and Greenleaf (2010; cited in Cox, 2012) refer to imagery as “using
one’s senses to re-create or create and experience in the mind” (p. 267). Discuss an imagery training
program you might devise in order to improve an athlete’s performance when:
Shooting a foul shot in basketball
Teeing off in golf
Try to use all five human senses, and limit each situation to a six-step program. Research the movements,
routines, rhythms, and so forth for each sport as stated above in order to be able to effectively
communicate the imagery training to an athlete.
