WST 301 Histories of Feminism
Final Project Proposal Assignment Sheet.
Due: Tuesday November 23 by 11:59pm via Blackboard.
Introduction: This assignment is here for you to think through your desired presentation topic and
to propose your central guiding question. What will you present to your peers?
Directions: In 150-250 words
Below is the portion of the final project that you need in order to complete this assignment:
o Present a compelling investigation that interconnects all of the following:
§ A particular feminist historical moment (large or small) explored in class
(From Segments 1 or 2 on the syllabus),
§ A feminist historical figure explored in class (Throughout the entirety of
the course content including the Feminist Archive Project),
§ And a particular feminist critical discourse explored in class from the syllabus
(Choose from Segment 3: Feminist Genealogies—Black Feminist
Thought; Introduction to Intersectionality; Politics of Gender and
Trans Feminism; Feminist Cultural Critique).
• Once you’ve closely read and became familiar with the above final project requirements
along with the corresponding portions of the syllabus, you will identify and briefly discuss
your desired topic of investigation by responding to the following:
o Identify and share your suggested central guiding question for your project that you
will present at the beginning of your presentation and work through for the entirety
of your presentation.
§ Clarification: Your central guiding question must be one that connects an
historical feminist moment we’ve explored, a corresponding feminist
historical figure we’ve explored, and a particular feminist critical discourse we
have explored that you find best serves your investigation.
o You must briefly discuss why you think your question is intriguing and how you see
your question being one that could lead to a generative presentation and subsequent
discussion.
• You may also include any questions that might arise from your thought process.
• Remember: If you make direct textual reference, cite via MLA or APA standards.
