Grant Proposal Written Assignment

Value: 35% of your final mark
Due: Week 13, Monday December 7, 2020

Description:
The purpose of this assignment is to teach you how to plan and write a funding proposal. Each student (or pair of students) will write a comprehensive funding proposal for a new project for a local non-profit organization up to a maximum of $100,000 CAD.

Students will be allotted times to meet in class; however, students must be prepared to do work on this project outside of class time.

Instructions:
1. You need to choose a non-profit organization located in Halton Region, the Region of Peel, the GTA, York Region, etc. that is a good fit for the program that you developed. You will write this proposal as this organization. Please note: Do not create your own organization as this will add a lot more work.

2. Once you have chosen your organization, become familiar with it. Learn about its vision, mission, target populations, programs and services. This information will help set the context for creating the proposal. You will likely be able to find this information on the organization’s website and/or in their annual report.

3. Using the organizational context, identified community needs, research from your Program Proposal and Literature Review Assignment (if you are using the same idea), your experience and creativity, propose your project/program to the to address one of their key priority areas: Active People; Connected People; Green People; Inspired People; Prosperous People; Safe People (see the Sher Foundation Investment Strategy document for more details and explanation-available in the appropriate assignment folder as a separate document).**

**If you do not see your program idea reflected in some way in these different priorities, come and talk to your instructor.

4. Complete the Call for Proposal, which requires you to input and upload online via the appropriate Quiz link within Assessments in SLATE. It is highly recommended that you develop your written answers for part A and B in a word document prior to completing online.
