Funding Your Nonprofit

Project 4 Project Building Assignment: Funding Your Nonprofit
This week you will build a budget for your nonprofit including where you will get money (revenue) and what you will spend that money on (expenses). Be realistic with your budget. Remember that you are building a small to mid sized, local/regional nonprofit with a maximum budget of $500k per year. On the opposite end of the spectrum, your minimum budget must be at least $50k per year. Here are the requirements:
1) A one paragraph or 4-5 bullet points that provide an introduction and overview of your budget followed by chart/spreadsheet that outlines your revenue and expenses (there is probably an example in one of your readings about budgeting).
2) A budget narrative that provides additional details about each category/type of revenue and expense you have included in your budget. For example, if you have $50,000 in grants listed in revenue tell me what grants you will apply for and how much you expect from each grant to come up with the $50k. You should also include links to information about the grants. If you have $100,000 in personnel expenses, tell me what positions that amount will fund, are they full-time or part-time, does it include benefits, are they contract employees that don’t receive benefits, etc).
3) For revenues, you must include at least three sources of revenue (grants, donations, earned income/fee for service, etc.).
4) This assignment will require you to do some additional research/digging beyond the readings and resources we have provided to make your budget realistic. So…as always, cite your sources using either MLA or APA format and you must include at least two external sources (not included in the readings and resources in Canvas) for this assignment.
