Forensic Psychology

Instructions

For your Signature Assignment, provide a review of the issues and ethical resolutions or solutions to potential violations. Your paper should include an introduction and conclusion, as well as specific examples of potential ethical violations involved in assessment for each of the different psychology disciplines listed (school psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, counseling and industrial organizational psychology). You may expand the list of disciplines if you choose. Some of the issues involved in assessment can be found in your text. Remember that the examples you provide should be realistic and relevant. For example, in school psychology, you want to make sure to use the correct test for the individual based on their age, gender, race, etc. Some tests are not valid or accurate to use with certain groups, so you want to be mindful of this. Along the same lines, when implementing a test, you want to make sure that you have the training and experience to utilize it – and are aware of any recent research or updates when giving this test to clients in person. Additionally, you might also have confidentiality issues if you are testing someone who is 18 or older, and the parents want to know how their child scored or performed. Only with the written consent of the child – who at 18 is now an adult, can this be given. These are just a few examples of what you might want to discuss when detailing ethical issues in assessment for school psychologists. Note that you also want to provide clear examples for forensic, health, counseling and I/O psychology. Finally, whenever possible, work to cite the APA ethical codes and standards, as well as the principles in your response – to further illustrate your complete understanding of these important ethical guidelines.
