REQUIREMENTS FOR PAPER – NURS 125
Journal Article Review
Objectives:
1. Display ability to use library and computer resources through the assigned paper.
2. Practice strategies to prevent engagement in plagiarism.
3. Demonstrate integrity in written and/or oral communications.
4. Express skills and attributes needed to think critically.
5. Engage in group process, demonstrating accountability for completion of assignment requirements.
Overview:
Students, working in groups, will be randomly assigned an article from the list on p. 2.
Locate the full-text article in the library databases. Use either EBSCO host or ProQuest. The library orientation workshop introduces students to the use and searching processes. For a refresher in research techniques, contact the library for help (741-5521).
Read and review the article and extract the purpose of the authors’ research, conclusions and recommendations. In addition, apply this information to a current issue in nursing and discuss the implications.
In addition, you must locate an additional article related to the topic you have been assigned. The citation for this article must be included on your Reference page.
The work of developing the paper is divided into two parts:
1. The first assignment is an outline for the work of the paper (see Group Paper Agreement) with due dates, identifying the assignments for which each person holds responsibility by February 22, 2022. The instructor may ask for a meeting if clarification or confirmation of the agreement is needed. One meeting with the assigned instructor is required before the final paper is submitted.
2. The final paper assignment must include all of the elements – title page, body of paper, reference page, and plagiarism signature sheet. APA format must be followed throughout the paper; you can make an appointment at the library if not sure how to implement this style. Also Include the Group Paper Agreement. It is due March 29, 2022. No grace days are allowed.
Plan your time carefully to both read and discuss the paper with your partner(s) so that you all have an understanding of the research presented.
The paper must be 2-4 typed, no more than that, and double-spaced pages (not including title or reference pages). It is expected that students review and proofread the paper many times to ensure accurate spelling and grammar for all assignments. Students must follow APA guidelines for formal papers (refer to APA guidelines on Brightspace).

• Who are the authors and who/what is their sample size?
• What methods were used to examine the sample?
• What information did the study reveal?
• Did the authors include problems with the study or recommendations for further research?
• What conclusions did the authors come to from their research?
• How could this information impact the nursing profession and your education?
Group meetings with course faculty member:
• Meet at least once with assigned instructor.
• Bring group assignment worksheet to each meeting.
• Students can request a meeting with assigned faculty.
• Faculty can require a meeting with the group.
How the final paper is graded: See rubric (Brightspace).
The paper counts 10% of the NURS 125 grade IF students have an average on unit and final exams of 76 or better.
Students who wish to appeal the grade on their paper must submit a clean copy of the paper and the original graded paper to the Nursing Chair, who will assign a faculty member to read the paper. Students will receive the average of the assigned grades.
