In a final 8-10 page report, you will evaluate your internship experience and relate it to what you have learned in Government classes and in the political science literature. Most importantly, you will also reflect on its importance to your major and your career goals. You will also prepare a formal presentation, including visuals, for the final meeting of the seminar. In your essay you should:

Explore a theme that connects your internship experience to a topic you have studied in your Government coursework and connect it to political science literature. The basic question here is whether your on the job experience was what your academic study led you to expect. If so, how did it deepen your understanding of that topic. If not, why not?
Recall the goals and plans you had upon starting your internship. In what ways do you think these have changed and to what do you attribute the change? Are your goals different now or largely the same? Are you more confident now or are there more options you would like to explore? Has something changed that has surprised you?
Consider how you applied skills/knowledge acquired in your academic studies and assess how you were able to apply them in your internship. What new skills did you develop and what additional skills are you now aware that you will need to work on?
Assess whether your internship changed or clarified anything about what you value in professional, civic or personal contexts. What is most important to you now with respect to these values and where you see your career path ahead? How do you feel your internship made you feel about the level of civic engagement you expect of yourself and others?
Describe next steps in your professional, academic and/or civic life that your internship experience and/or this seminar have helped you identify or clarify.
