Act as an advocate for the vulnerable, challenging poor practice and discriminatory attitudes and behaviour relating to their care
Compose a 250-word discussion identifying a specific example of when you experienced, or witnessed, someone advocating for a client, patient, or service user and how this contributed (negatively or positively) to the person’s care.
It is in regards to mental health nursing, i work on a ward for older peoples mental health.
With our patients, most are detained and they are vulnerable so they have advocates and MHO’s (mental health officers) that come in to see and support them.
We actively encourage the use of advocacy on the ward and we use them as a support system for the patients on the ward
