Teacher’s Attitude towards Students from Different Racial Groups: How do they Influence Student Performance, Behaviors, and Discipline?

1. How can a teacher’s attitude and behavior affect their students?

2. How do you deal with racial diversity in the classroom?

3. How do teachers in your school show that he/she is impartial or nondiscriminatory against any learner?

4. In your school, are students of different races disciplined differently than other races, how so?

5. Do you support and encourage students of color to have their own space without white students? If yes, please explain. If not, please explain.

6. What are your school’s measurable goals around equity and inclusion?

7. Have you noticed disproportionate treatment in discipline? If so, what are some of the causes of disproportionate treatment in discipline and how can they be proactively addressed?

8. Have you observed harsh discipline for students in your school of races other than white? Harsh discipline includes tactics like aggressiveness, raised voices, guilt trips, shaming, and blaming.
