Description
The final project will be a professional research report, maximum 8 pages, doublespaced, 12-point font, with normal margins. It is worth 40% of your final grade. The report
must be completed individually. Students will analyze a Canadian dataset using tabular,
graphical, and statistical analysis. The final project is due by 11:59 PM PST on
Wednesday, December 8.
Evaluation Criteria
Evaluation of the final project will be based on the following criteria:
• Organization, structure, and writing: (30%)
o The report must include the following sections: introduction, description of
data, description of methods, results of analysis, and conclusion
o Writing is clear, compelling, and flows well from section to section
• Integration of course knowledge: (30%)
o Tabular, graphical, and statistical analysis from the course are included in
the report
o Students demonstrate an understanding of these methods through the
“description of methods” section
• Data analysis: (30%)
o The methods chosen are used appropriately
o Data has been cleaned/recoded
o There are no errors in the analysis
o Results are presented clearly
• Spelling and grammar: (10%)
o Little to no spelling or grammatical errors
Missed Graded Work
Extensions for the final project may be granted on a case-by-case basis at the discretion
of the professor. Extensions must be requested at least 1 week before the due date.
Failure to contact the professor in advance of the due date will result in a 5% deduction
off the final grade for each calendar day that the final project is late.
In the case of extenuating circumstances (e.g. mental health, illness), please contact me
as soon as possible and together we will determine a reasonable and fair resolution.
