STEP 1: Select a fictional character who appears to have a mental health disorder. This could be a person from a movie, show, book, or comic. Briefly summarize the character and their mental health disorder through the lenses of the biological, psychoanalytic, humanistic, and behavioral models.

For example, the Grinch from Dr. Suess’s story could easily be analyzed through these various lenses, as his negative attitude about Christmas and his unfriendly behavior could be caused by genetics, biological predispositions, childhood experiences, defense mechanisms, negative self-worth, untapped potential, or learned experiences. If writing about the Grinch, you would first introduce him and describe his traits, then devote a paragraph to each of these four models and explain how these models correspond to the behavior displayed by the Grinch.

STEP 2: Describe the mental health disorder or the experience of the fictional character through the lens of the biological model, psychoanalytic model, humanistic model, and behavioral model.

STEP 3: Explain how each of these models can be integrated with your Christian worldview.

STEP 4: Submit a 2- to 3-page written response. Integrate at least one scholarly, peer-reviewed reference from another source besides the digital textbook.
