

THIS SUBJECT IS REGARDING EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION
The chapter 8 author states,“For us to meet the true
intent of what constitutes an ‘appropriate’education for
any given student with a disability, we must be able to
have an objective measure against which we can compare
a student’s progress and to judge the adequacy of his or
her education. Nonetheless, the practical issue of what is
meant by ‘standards’ in the context of an individualized
education cannot be ignored. Whether it is feasible or
even wise to endorse one common set of achievement
standards is open to discussion. What is certain is that we
need to reconcile what we understand about educating
students with disabilities with a standards model if we are
to ever achieve the goal of a ‘free and appropriate public
education’ for every student with a disability.” What do
