Specific Context:
You work for a university in the UK who provide pre-sessional courses for students wishing to go on and
study Economics and Business subjects at that institution at Undergraduate level. The class you are
assigned will have two weeks to prepare for their academic studies. They will have five hours of lessons for
these two weeks (Monday-Friday), making 50 hours in total and they will be expected to prepare a 250
word referenced essay to hand in on the penultimate day of the course and for which they will receive
feedback on the Friday. The students will already have an Upper-Intermediate level of English but will wish
to gain key academic skills for writing essays, listening to lectures, giving presentations and reading
academic literature. Your job will be to make sure they have the key skills needed to produce the essay and
to prepare them successfully for their Undergraduate Economics and Business courses.
