This paper will be in two parts.

Part I: Diagnose the Problem and Propose an Intervention

Imagine a major non-profit foundation is interested in funding projects to address problems associated with “the post-truth age.” Your task is to find a problem in public life and diagnose it using material from the course. Your problem does not have to be an example discussed already in the course, but it must be specific. For example, rather than attempting to address all problems of public ignorance, you might target public ignorance in Massachusetts in the context of a particular policy debate, such as the pending
ballot initiative on whether to implement rank order voting in the commonwealth.

In a paper of 500 words, describe the problem to the funder and demonstrate that you have a sophisticated grasp of the nature of it and why it needs to be addressed. The inclusion of external references, links, or audiovisual materials is encouraged in your explication of the problem. Your paper should include the project title, a brief identification of a specific problem in the post-truth age (250 words), and a brief summary of your proposed intervention (including a description of the concrete demonstration of the
intervention’s approach you will submit in Part II) (250 words).

Your proposed intervention can take a number of forms, including but not limited to: an op-ed, a policy recommendation, an app, a website, or an artistic approach. The intervention can either take the form of adapting an existing tool (such as an op-ed) for the specific problem or creating a new type of intervention that is suited for the specific problem.

Part II: Present an Intervention and Develop a Prototype
(Only need to write the follow write up paper)

The second part of the project has two separate requirements.

1) Intervention: The first requirement is that you should present your fully-fleshed out intervention to the foundation. Your final proposal must include a prototype, illustrative example, or polished pitched presentation (video or slide-deck) clearly demonstrating the intervention’s approach and potential to mitigate the problem. Take note that you do not have to implement your intervention outside of the course, although some of you may choose to fully actualize your interventions at a later date.

2) Final Project Write-Up: The second requirement is a final project write-up, which will accompany your fully fleshed-out intervention prototype. Your final project write-up must include answers to the following questions.

I)What are the main theoretical or philosophical sources influencing your work as a social critic? (400-500 words)

II) What kind of impact—artistic, intellectual, communal, civic, social, etc.—do you hope your intervention will have? What strategies have you employed to achieve the desired impact, and how would those strategies bolster the effectiveness of your intervention? (200-300 words)

III) Who are the specific audiences/communities that you hope to engage through this intervention? Why did you choose this audience? How are you hoping to reach them? (200-300 words)

For Part 1,

Problem/solution
Do to the large number of voters are voting with rational and irrational ignorance (terms are in the attached readings), and with the misleading information showed to the public, therefore I would like to propose a new voter informational APP to the California local voters.

For Part 2,
Use John Stuart Mills to argue that voters have a moral duty to be well informed and others if needed.

explain that the APP we effect the rational and irrational ignorant voters that they will be well informed with both sides of the information and true stories about their candidates with real updates therefore they will know how to vote based on real information instead. Also make sure to answer all questions from the instructions.
