Fitness
Gym and recreational facility users are often faced with crowded conditions during peak hours.
This can cause people to cut workouts short, train on low interest equipment or cancel
workouts altogether with associated negative health outcomes. Many gym users are
uncomfortable working out in these conditions. Crowding in confined spaces is also problematic from a public health / infectious disease perspective. Gym
owners struggle to sell
more memberships and retain happy customers if they can’t space demand more evenly.

1. Customer Interviews (30%)
Individual Grade
A core element of this course is interviewing customers to discover their problems and needs, and to get feedback on your project ideas. When we say
customers we are talking about a number of different stakeholders that could be important to your venture These could include paying customers users
stakeholders, experts, and others. Each week you will be individually tasked to identify, reach out to, and interview three (3) customers as per the weekly
assignment prompts. This almost certainly will require you to reach out to more than three customers to ensure you hear back from at least three. The
course text titled Mastering Customer Interviews for Entrepreneurs describes in detail how to plan and do each aspect of this process. Customer interview
results should be written up and submitted for grading, and also shared with teammates to learn faster across multiple interviews each week.
Each interview write-up should be one (1) page and must include the following to receive full credit:
Name and role of individual leading Interview
Names of other team members present (if any)
Interviewee name, title, and contact information (email, phone)
Interview date and time
Hypothesis tested: What did you expect to learn in this interview?
Results: What did you learn from this interview?
Next steps: How does what you learned impact your project? Are you going to recommend pivoting or staying the course?
Notes from the interview
NOTE – Incomplete or late interviews will not be accepted. These include interviews that do not include contact information of the person interviewed or time
and date of the interview, do not address the assignment prompts, are irrelevant to the course project (for example interviews of irrelevant family and
friends). Fake interviews submitted are a violation of university integrity rules and will not be permitted. You can re-interview only three (3) total customers
during the course (must mark as repeat interviews). Others must be new each week.
