1. In just a few quick sentences, remind the reader of who your chosen criminal is, and provide a very brief overview of their history (three sentences,
maximum for this – you’ve already written a full report on this, I don’t need to read it all again – just a quick reminder for me!).
2. Provide an in-depth descriiption of the evidence compiled against your chosen criminal. This will resemble aspects of a profile, even if it’s not explicitly
stated as one. This includes things regarding their modus operandi (MO) – chosen victims, preferred location, weapons, rituals, or signatures if applicable,
etc.
3. Include a discussion about the rest of the investigative process. Discuss use of eyewitness testimony, interrogation techniques or interviewing techniques,
implementation and compilation of a jury, and/or use of evidence (e.g., fingerprinting, voice analysis, etc.).
4. Finally, choose two specific elements of the case to evaluate from a research and scientific perspective. To do this, you must be clear about which aspects
you are evaluating, and whether you believe the element was handled well, and why. You must include at least two empirical articles in this section (one for
each element).
a. For example, you might choose to discuss how they administered a lineup to an eyewitness. You would first be clear about the administration of the lineup,
and then use empirical articles to back up whether the lineup was done well or could be improved.
b. Alternatively, you could discuss their use of profiling (and whether it’s appropriate to do so given empirical literature on the subject), whether the charge
was appropriate (if they were convicting the person of 1st degree murder when technically it should classify as 2nd or 3rd), the type of interrogation or
interviewing technique that was used, consideration of competency to stand trial, or whether a Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity plea would have been more
appropriate and why, etc.
The Case Study Paper Pt 2 must be a minimum of three pages of content. You must include an APA title page, APA citations, and APA references of at least
three sources. At least TWO of these sources should be an academic empirical article referring to your critique of the investigation or trial elements. The title
page and References page will not count toward the 3-page minimum
