Case Analysis Format Template
Problem Statement
Define and state the problem specifically in one sentence.
Analysis
In this paragraph you should explore the facts of the case and how they led to the problem. Explain why
the problem you’ve identified should be addressed.
Alternative Solutions
Alternative 1:
Present your first solution- The solution must be viable and valuable. You should also explore the
advantages and disadvantages of the solution.
Do not include implementation-how you will execute the solution.
Be careful of giving a throw away solution- one that you know would never be chosen by a reasonable
person.
Alternative 2:
Present your second alternative. This solution should not be the opposite of the first, but another
approach to the same problem. Like with the first, you should explore the advantages and
disadvantages.
Recommended Solution
Select one alternative and announce it clearly and early. Defend it without repeating claims from the
alternatives. Why does this make the most sense?
