You are the male owner of a small, very successful private marketing firm. You have several major accounts. Two of them have been with you since your
start-up days. A great surge in new business has required that you bring on new staff. You have added one great marketing rep “Sally”, with solid background,
looking to end her long commute each day. You are fortunate to have acquired her. You immediately hand her one of the “major” accounts.
During a weekly meeting, after her first month on the job, she mentions several unreturned phone calls from the CEO of the account. You are surprised, as he
was always prompt in his dealings with you. Everything else she is doing, exceeds your expectations.
After the meeting you call “Bob”, the CEO and he picks up right away. After a minute or two of catching up, you mention your new hire. Bob gets quiet. You
add that “Sally” hasn’t heard back from Bob. After a long pause, Bob says that he really doesn’t want to deal with or do business with a woman. He demands
you resume his account or he will take his business elsewhere.
