Write your paper (details below)
Using the following format: 8-12 double spaced pages, APA format, title page, references.
1. Introduction:
a. Sets the tone and provides an overview of the paper
b. Situates the paper within the literature we have been studying in class
c. Provides statement of problem and purpose
2. Contextual/Participant Description:
a. This section should provide a brief description of the participant you have studied and why you chose to study them.
3. Procedures or Methods
a. Describe the steps you took to complete your interviewing and/or observation process as well as the data analysis process
4. Results
a. From the data collected, describe patterns and/or themes that you discovered. This descriptive narrative organizes the data through conceptual categories or explanatory concepts.
b. Your results should be supported by evidence from the participant’s own words or your field notes describing particular events. Use direct quotes in order to “show” us and not just “tell” us about your participant’s lived experiences.
5. Discussion
a. Use the theories presented in the course or your own to explore the meaning of what you have learned from and about your participant.
b. Be sure to cite relevant readings and support your response with “evidence” in the student’s own words or your field notes.
c. Questions you might consider (though you are welcome to explore others)
i. What are the messages about race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, language, culture, etc. conveyed in the participants school, work, or family settings?
ii. What cultural communities of wealth or other resources help the student negotiate their lived reality (school, work, family, etc)?
iii. How does this case study reveal the issues of diversity we have discussed in class?
6. Implications:
a. Given what you have learned from your participant, what structures and practices would you advocate to promote more “socially just” outcomes.
7. Personal Reflection:
a. You will conclude with a reflection about the effect of this experience on your own personal and professional growth.
