across a department or unit. As many discover during a crisis, and especially evident at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, determining who is essential
and must come to work and who is not, is of utmost importance. Making these determinations is often done quickly and without much forethought when an
emergency strikes. Organizations can benefit from preparing not only plans for their employees to go remote, but a systematic way to determine which
employees are essential and must be at the organization in person to perform their duties.
