Behavioral Modification Restorative Justice

C‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍hapter eighteen touches on the ethics of punishment. This discussion board expands on that topic. In chapter eighteen, the example of Allison involves restitution. This is somewhat similar to the principle of restorative justice but does not go as far. In her TED talk, Liz Knapp says, “People do well if they can” (13:39) and “what would it look like if we taught the skills to be successful when there was a challenging behavior instead of punishing with shame and blame” (13:51). After reading the chapters and viewing the two videos, consider how the principles of restitution can be taken further to become restorative justice. Apply this to the situation of Allison in which restorative justice can be effective. Explain how it can be used and the potential impact, making sure to use infor‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍mation from the textbook and the videos. References Klasovsky, J. (2013).
