Temple Grandin documents the struggles faced by a brilliant and autistic young woman as she adjusts to life in a world that is sometimes less than accepting. In one and one-half to two pages, identify and discuss the social and other obstacles she faces in coming to adulthood and carving out a life for herself. Think about all the big issues that affected her but also are problems for many others in society. Then go back to the film and find examples of where Temple had to deal with those issues. Most of all, discuss the impact of Temple’s challenges, in terms of her communication overall and her speech skills, on her life. What major obstacles did she face? Give specific examples and explain why autism is such an important+ public interest issue.
