Your task is to select a common word or term, and then write a definition essay to explain all the variations in how it can be used/defined. Remember to pick a term that has several different ways in which it could be defined. You may even consider defining something from your field of study or work.

Length: 500+ words

For this work:

· Select a term commonly used but with different possible definitions

· Research different components of the term such as the historical definition, how it is currently used, relevant examples of its use both past and present, how it might change in the future, its impact on society and society’s impact on it

· Develop a thesis that presents your definition

· Use your research to provide a deeper understanding of the term

· This is a research essay; do not use “I” or present information as personal opinion

Y ou must use in-text citations and include a Works Cited page in MLA format with at least 5 sources; three of those sources must be from the library databases.
