The Context of Health Care Management
Write a 3 to 4 page paper on the role and demands of a supervisor. Please include a real life situation of an interaction that you have had with an effective leader and an ineffective leader. Explain why the person was effective and ineffective. Include material from our readings and utilize the university library to research at least 4 current scholarly, peer-reviewed references published within the past 5 years. Cite all references and utilize APA format.

Stepping Into Management!

Welcome to Modern Organizations and Healthcare. Just a few pieces of advice regarding an online course before we begin. Please remember to review the syllabus thoroughly. Make sure you are aware of all assignments and due dates. I want all of you to be successful.
For week 1 – We will be Stepping into Management!
We will be covering chapters 1 and 2.
Chapter 1 we will be looking at the responsibilities of a supervisor and management
Chapter 2 we will be looking at the theories and history of management

Describe the many factors impacting healthcare today.
What is healthcare management?
What is the role of management in today’s healthcare organizations and why is it important?
Describe recent health regulations and their impact on the health care industry.
What is the difference between managerial functions and managerial authority?

Healthcare as we know it is big business and changing very rapidly. The roles and responsibilities that you take in healthcare demands you to be a good listener, a coach, a decision maker and at times a manager or supervisor. All organizations need managers and supervisors.
After 34 years of being a leader in key positions in a mental health organization the one constant I found was –”don’t stop learning and growing”. Being able to grow and learn from others made be a better leader. Learning does not mean just learning from “Good Supervisors.” You need to learn from the “Bad Supervisors.” These are key lessons. Lastly, make sure to take care of the greatest asset in the workforce, that is your staff!
