While the Constitution has been amended only 33 times since it was drafted in 1787, there have been thousands of proposed amendments. For this
assignment, you will choose a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution between the years 2000-and 2013 from a list provided by the
instructor.
1. Select proposed Amendment:
-Each student will select and research an Amendment to the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION that was proposed between 2000-2013 from a list provided by
the instructor
2. Gather support materials:
-Your paper will require at least three sources.
3. Write a short essay (3 pages PLUS reference list) describing the amendment and how it did in the process (did it make it out of committee for a full vote?
Did it pass the full vote?, etc.), listing the pros and cons of the proposed Amendment (what people it would affect and how-good or bad), including
demographics of the population for and against the proposed Amendment, explaining the challenges and/or biases that confronted amending the
constitution (was amending.
