Term Paper Write a thorough analysis of one image chosen from the Term Paper Images section in
Canvas. The analysis will present your thoughts, framed with personal, historical, technical,
ethical, cultural and critical perspectives. Include a conclusion that states what you learned
from the analysis.
There is no word count minimum or maximum; consult the document “Words Not to Use” for
guidance. Use and cite and least five sources. Most should be cited in-text, and then in a
reference section at the end of the paper. Use the appropriate format (see below). Be sure to
include the photo itself in the document.
Your analysis should include:
• Introduction – This first paragraph introduces the reader to the image you chose and that
you will analyze it with the six perspectives. It also introduces/outlines the paper as a whole
(similar to an introduction you would write for an essay). Do. not write an Abstract.
• Perspectives – Your personal perspective, written in first-person style, and the the following
perspectives in the third-person style only: historical, technical, ethical, cultural and critical.
• Conclusion – State what you learned from this assignment. This is the only portion that may
be written in first-person context.
See the provided template for what and how much each perspective should include. The
word count is for content only and does not include the references or title page.
FORMATTING Formatting the paper is the final step; work on getting and writing good content first.
When the writing is done, do these things:
• Use 12-point Times or Times New Roman typeface, one-inch margins (top, bottom, right,
left) and be double-spaced.
• Use boldface headings for each section.
• Use paragraphs to separate ideas within each section. Don’t write one long paragraph for
each section.
• Use the textbook when referencing an image or concept, but use at least four other
sources to support your paper.
• Use APA style for your sources. That means in-text citations with complete sources in your
reference section. (Not sure about APA Style? There will be PDF in Canvas to learn about it).
A few other handy tips • Quotations should not be longer than 20 words, and they should be used within an existing
sentence. Be sure to cite it to the reference materials.
• Paraphrases must include an in-text citation with page number.
• You must have a minimum of 5 sources and should be academic books, academic
journals, or reliable online sources. Things that don’t count as sources include: any online
encyclopedia, Wikipedia, online dictionary, blog or personal website.
• Please do not double space within a single reference; only double space between the
references.

Anything else, including PDF, will not be accepted for grading. Emailed papers will not be
accepted for grading.
Some factors in grading: • Changes in the size, color, or font of the typography. Stick with the required format
• Dictionaries and encyclopedias (including Wikipedia) used as a source
• Grammar errors
• Misplaced or missing apostrophes
• Misplaced period or quote mark with in-text cites. Should be: … the end” (Lester, 2013).
• Missing in-text citations in APA style
• Not double-spaced
• Double period or missing period
• Period or comma outside of a quotation mark
• Poorly written or missing introduction
• Proper nouns not capitalized
• The following not italicized in the body of the paper: titles of magazines, books,
newspapers, academic journals, films, television shows, long poems, plays, operas,
musical albums, works of art (including photographs), websites
• Using personal pronouns (except the sections mentioned in the guidelines where it is
allowed)
• Using spaces instead of tabs for indentations
• Sources that are part of an in-text citation, but not listed in the References section
• Each source below five (5) sources
• Misspelled words
